Health Benefits of Snus

Snus is a smokeless tobacco product that is consumed by placing snuff in the mouth between the upper lip and gums for extended periods of time. Snus is often used to replace or reduce cigarette smoking and there is a growing body of evidence suggesting that the health risks of snus are considerably lower than those associated with cigarette smoking. This link:https://heysnus.com

In Sweden, national statistics indicate that daily snus use has increased since 1996 while cigarette smoking rates have declined. This trend has also been observed in Norway where, according to Eurobarometer data from 2017, snus consumption is more popular than smoking (Fig. 1; taken from ).

Exploring the World of Snus: What You Need to Know

A longitudinal Swiss study [109] investigated the effect of nasal snuff (a form of smokeless tobacco inhaled into the nose) on cigarette smoking initiation, cessation and reduction among young men. This study showed that exclusive snus and nasal snuff use did not significantly affect cigarette smoking prevalence, but it was associated with lower nicotine dependency levels and reduced daily cigarette consumption in current users.

Long-term population studies have also shown that snus use can help control cigarette smoking behavior and can even assist smokers in quitting tobacco altogether. In addition, snus has been found to be less harmful than cigarette smoking for cardiovascular, pancreatic and oral mucosal health endpoints.
