E-cig liquid (or e-juice) is the stuff that makes your vape go boom. It sits in a tank which is attached to a coil, and when you fire up your battery it heats the liquid up so that it turns into a vapour that you inhale through the mouthpiece. The majority of people who vape use nicotine in their e-juice, but you can also get non-nicotine e-liquids and even e-cig liquids that contain no nicotine at all if that’s what you want.
There are lots of different types of e-cig liquid, and some people will prefer one type of e-liquid over another. But before you buy your first bottle of e-cig juice, it’s good to understand a little about the different types of e-liquid so that you can choose the right one for you.
The Basics of E-Cig Liquid: What You Need to Know
The most common types of e-cig liquid are made with either glycerol or propylene glycol. PG vape liquids are thinner, and they give you a nice throat hit and produce less cloud, but they don’t taste as well as VG vape juices. VG vape juices are thicker and they are synonymous with producing huge clouds, and they are available in a range of exotic flavours.
The most common ingredients in e-liquid are glycerol, nicotine and water. The most popular flavourings were vanillin, menthol and ethyl butyrate. There were 219 unique ingredients reported in more than 100 e-liquids. An overview of these is given in online supplementary table S1.
